Java App

The Java version of FermCalc is designed for offline use on desktops, notebooks, and tablets running Windows, Linux, or macOS.

To install the Java version of FermCalc, follow the instructions below. Regardless of your operating system, you’ll need to install the Java Runtime Environment on your computer for FermCalc to run. You can download and install it by clicking on the Java button below.

Some Mac users have reported that they needed to install the full Java Development Kit (JDK) for FermCalc to run.

Installation Instructions for Windows (2000/XP/Vista/7/8/10/11)

  1. Click the download link below to download the FermCalc installer for Windows (FermCalc_setup.exe).
  2. Choose the “Save” option and save the file to the location of your choice. (This option will vary depending on which web browser you’re using.)
  3. Double-click on the FermCalc_setup.exe file that you just downloaded to install FermCalc.
  4. Launch FermCalc using the FermCalc shortcut on the Desktop or in the Start Menu.

Installation Instructions for Other Operating Systems

  1. Click the download link below to download the FermCalc zip file (FermCalc.zip).
  2. Choose the “Save” option and save the file to the location of your choice. (This option will vary depending on which web browser you’re using.)
  3. Unzip the files to the location of your choice.
  4. To run FermCalc, try double-clicking FermCalc.jar.
  5. If double-clicking FermCalc.jar doesn’t work, execute the the following command in the directory where you saved the file. (You can probably set up a script or batch file to do this.):
    java -jar FermCalc.jar
